Athletics

At The Oxford School, physical activity is seen as an important part of our learning environment. Being able to work as a team on and off the field is an important life skill. It is also our belief that physical activity enhances one’s energy level and contributes to better learning in the classroom. TOS is dedicated to maintaining and improving our Physical Education and sports programs each and every day. We encourage all of our students to become involved and active in our offered sports teams.

Students in grades 3 through 8 are invited to try out for various teams throughout the year. It is not mandatory for your child to be on a team, however the majority of our students participate in at least one during the year. We expect a high level of commitment when a child elects to join a sports team. Practices usually run through lunch recess multiple times a week, younger students are not required to participate in all practices. Student participants will require transportation to and from games during the season, with the exception of Track and Field day.

The JK, SK Grade 1 & 2 students are taught beginner level skills pertaining to various sports and track and field activities as part of the physical education program. Students will build the foundation they need to enter the sports programs starting in grade 3.

Sports teams offered at TOS include: cross country, floor hockey, badminton, 3 on 3 basketball, track and field, soccer and volleyball.
